From our humble beginnings at our very first festival — wondering if anyone would buy our syrup — Sutton Mill Creek Syrup Co. has grown into a brand carried in locations such as Farmview Market, grocery stores, and major events like the Country Living Fair.

Over the years, this journey has become far more than just building a business. Meeting so many wonderful people along the way has made every long hour and every challenge worthwhile. We are incredibly grateful for the support that has helped turn our dream into a reality and allowed us to continue sharing our handcrafted hickory syrups with customers near and far.

Our Story

     

Founded in May 2017, Sutton Mill Creek Syrup Co. began with a simple discovery and a passion for creating something truly unique. Founder Beth Palmer first tasted hickory syrup after purchasing a bottle as a gift at a local event. After sharing it with her husband, Bruce Palmer, the two immediately fell in love with its rich, smoky flavor and decided to try making their own.

Already experienced entrepreneurs with two businesses, Beth and Bruce were searching for a new opportunity they could enjoy and continue into retirement. Beth gathered everything needed to make their first batch and spent time perfecting the recipe. Soon after, she decided to take a chance and sell the syrup at a local festival. The response was overwhelming, and that first festival became the beginning of an exciting journey.

Today, Sutton Mill Creek Syrup Co. proudly produces handcrafted, small-batch hickory syrups in a variety of flavors, including Original Hickory, Pecan Hickory — their top seller — Roasted Pecan Hickory, a Flavor of Georgia Finalist in 2020, and Spiced Apple Cider Syrup, a Flavor of Georgia Winner in 2022. Other customer favorites include Bourbon Hickory, Toasted Marshmallow Hickory, Sweet & Spicy, Smoky Maple, and Hickory Heat.

As the business continues to grow, Sutton Mill Creek Syrup Co. looks forward to developing new flavors and products, including their Old Fashion Pancake Mix. Every batch of syrup is handcrafted in small quantities, giving each one its own subtle variations in color and flavor. The hickory bark used in production is foraged right here in Georgia, making the syrups truly wildcrafted and Georgia grown.

Every bottle is carefully produced using pure cane sugar and contains no high fructose corn syrup, delivering a rich, authentic flavor customers can feel good about enjoying.

We are committed to protecting the environment by producing our syrups in small batches and using sustainable ingredients and wildcrafted hickory bark sourced right here in Georgia. Through thoughtful manufacturing practices and attention to quality, we strive to offer a safer, healthier food choice for families and food lovers alike.
