If unopened just store at room temperture for up to a year. But once open it needs to be refrigerated. But can be warmed before serving.
What can I use my Hickory syrup on?
You can use Sutton Mill Creek's Hickory syrup on just about anything! Breakfast foods, desserts, as a meat or salmon glaze or marinade, in drinks like coffee, hot chocolate and mixed drinks. Please check out our recipe section for ideas.
Do you tap trees like they do maple trees?
No, Hickory syrup is not made by tapping trees for sap and turning it into syurp. Hickory syrup is made by taking the barks of shagbark and other types of hickory trees and making a tea then turning it into syrup. It a bit of a process and takes some time but we think it is worth the work!
